ELECTION: APC Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu Declares Winner

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate has been named the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

At precisely 4:10 a.m. on Wednesday in Abuja, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu proclaimed Tinubu the winner.

The former governor of Lagos State received 8,794,726 votes in total, defeating Peter Obi of the Labour Party with 6,101,533 votes and Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's presidential candidate, who received 6,984,520 votes.

With a total of 1,496,687 votes, the New Nigerian Peoples Party's (NNPP) Rabiu Kwankwaso finished a dismal fourth in the presidential race.

According to Yakubu, there were 25,286,616 accredited voters out of the 93,469,008 registered voters for the election.

The overall number of legitimate votes was 24,025,940, and the total number of invalid votes was 939,278.

The chairman said that 24,965,218 votes were cast in total.

I certify that I am the returning officer for the presidential election for 2023 held on February 25, 2003, he said.

That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC is officially pronounced the winner and re-elected after fulfilling all legal prerequisites. At 3 p.m. today, the president-elect and vice president-elect will get their certificates of return.

Yakubu stated that the commission would publish a statement today regarding when the presentation of the senators' and representatives' own certification would be made.
