Atiku said the move is part of his plan to resuscitate the nation’s economy, which is currently gasping for breath due to economic mishandling by the present APC-led Federal Government.
Addressing the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo, on Monday, Atiku regretted that the current APC-led Federal Government haD driven Nigeria to a point where the nation has been declared the headquarters of poverty in the world by the United Nations.
While highlighting restructuring as one of his planned governance approach to create impact in oil producing states, including Akwa Ibom, he reminded the people of the state that everything in the state was achieved through the PDP administrations.
Atiku, therefore, cautioned the people of Akwa Ibom not to allow the poverty prevalent in many parts of the country to get to the state and pledged to improve the socio economic standing of women and youth. He promised to hand over the mantle of leadership to the youths when elected.
“70 percent of those that would be working in our next administration beginning from May 29 this year, will be youth and women.
“Every development that you see in Akwa Ibom State now is PDP. I commend the people of Akwa Ibom State for staying steadily behind PDP. Don’t allow APC to steal your vote in Akwa Ibom.
“When you elect me as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I will, in partnership with Governor Udom Emmanuel whom you will reelect, build refineries in Akwa Ibom State. Restructuring which is one of my promises will also have positive impact in Akwa Ibom State. I don’t discriminate. I am from Adamawa and I don’t care where one comes from,” he said.
He maintained that the APC-led government has failed to deliver in their campaign promises by making the economy worse, increasing unemployment and has failed to secure lives and property of Nigerians.
