Since ditching the runway a few seasons back, Yigal Azrouël has been getting creative with his lookbooks. Last season, he brought his Spring ’18 collection to a verdant estate in Kent, Connecticut; for Pre-Fall, he collaborated with Nir Hod and photographed his new jersey dresses and scarf-printed separates in front of the artist’s massive chrome paintings....
In a few instances, the silvery pigment reflected a hazy mirror image of the clothes, and it played up the shine of a glossy floral jacquard. Azrouël developed the fabric in rich shades of cherry and violet, then creased it with accordion pleats for added fluidity. On an asymmetrical dress with a dramatic handkerchief hem, it made a statement without feeling fussy.
