CI recently reported that pop diva and fashion legend Rihanna would be getting a prestigious honor in her home island of Barbados. Today, the beauty watched as the street she grew up on was renamed Rihanna Drive.
This day also marks a special occasion for another reason, it is Barbados Independence Day. The street that was previously named Westbury New Road is now Rihanna Drive.
Rihanna has done amazing philanthropic work around the world but also back home in Barbados. She has opened a breast cancer screening and treatment center, created the Clara Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program for students who are born in the Caribbean which allows them to attend school in the United States, and is a worldwide advocate for education all over the world.
Last year, during the 50th-anniversary celebration of the independence of Barbados, she took in the festivities with Prince Harry. The two chatted and mingled throughout the celebratory event.
She posted this sweet picture of the street that commemorates the honor on her Instagram today after the event.
Rihanna has accomplished a lot for herself at just 29 years old and she’s showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
In addition to all of her philanthropic work, she’s constantly involved in a million different things. Aside from all the stellar pop hits she’s released, she’s ushered her way into acting and will be apart of the highly anticipated films of 2018, Ocean’s Eight.
She’s also managed to launch an impressive makeup brand called Fenty Beauty, which will skyrocket her overall net worth as it made $72 million in a single month.
The Bajan beauty is also known for her enviable fashion sense and has a couple of style projects in the works, most notably the collaboration she has with Puma. She also seems to squeeze in time with her new beau, Hassan Jameel who she’s been dating for the better part of the year. They’re so serious that reports say they’re talking marriage.
