The Hamptons were top of mind for Rachel Zoe this season. In fact, looking at the edited racks of Pre-Fall clothing was like peering into Zoe’s own suitcase, packed for a vacation at some fabulous beach house next to Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop-ed-out digs.....

Zoe standbys like a gauzy off-the-shoulder maxi dress and pinstripe linen suiting were peppered in among typical big sellers such as simple stretch crepe mini and mid-length sheaths and jumpsuits. A painterly print on a sequined slip dress and shorts stood out, but overall, Zoe’s approach to this in-between season was about making things wearable, packable, and, above all else, easy for the customer to digest.

The collection wasn’t about infusing red carpet glamour into the clothes or overthinking eveningwear with a ton of embellishments. And, frankly, this time of year, it doesn’t really need to be. After years of building her own label, Zoe knows how to market her style to a big audience. Plucked right from the wardrobe of the designer herself, it’s what her fans—Hampton frequenters and not—will want come early summer.
