Tordini and her copilot, Gilda Ambrosio, have built a seductively immersive retro-fantasy world at Attico, in which gorgeous women in perfect apartments sip bespoke cocktails, all the while wreathed in Platonically ideal vintage-inspired dresses. Today the apartment—right next to Giorgio Armani HQ—was by Renzo Mongiardino. The progressive chintzy-ness of the decor powerfully enhanced the luxe maximalist retromania of the clothes. A sequin-wrapped palm frond on a black gown, a four-hued pastel rainbow degrade puff-sleeve maxi dress, a sequined rainbow midi, and a silver-and-black contoured flapper sheath were just a few of the pieces here. The designers introduced jeweled slippers to their shoe mix to reflect their glamourous Grey Gardens inspiration.
As we tilted our heads at a red silk dragon-embroidered skirt, Selby Drummond sailed into the salon wearing a vintage Giulietta jumpsuit and an entranced expression. “Look at you! This is fabulous! I don't want to see it, I want to wear it.” After immortalizing team Attico via the Vogue Snapchat, Drummond vanished as suddenly as she had materialized. The offer of tequila was welcome but unnecessary: Attico intoxicated without subsidiary stimulants.
