4 Tenants Allegedly Exhume Their Landlord's Dead Body, Sell His Property In Lagos

Four occupants, who supposedly uncovered the cadaver of their proprietor before moving his property were on Monday acquired a Yaba Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos, Vanguard reports. 


The three blamed men and a lady are – Silifatu Abisile, 60; Jimoh Abisile, 52; Gbade Bakare, 56; and Isaiah Bakare, 45. 

The denounced are confronting a five-check charge of trick, abducting, rupture of harmony, falsification and bogus supposition of power. 

Police Prosecutor Williams Ologun told the court that the blamed submitted the offenses on Nov. 1, at Ishola Daniel str., in Oshodi region of Lagos. 

Ologun claimed that the charged had contrived to illicitly move the house they were living in which did not have a place with them.

 He said that a forthcoming purchaser had demanded they moved the grave that was before the house before he would make installments. 

"My Lord, they produced an exhumation of carcass allow from Oshodi - Isolo Local Government and borrowed the body of the house proprietor, Sumonu Bakare, who was covered in the compound. 

"They additionally grabbed the main child of the expired; Gbenro Bakare, who is injured, supposing he was the main enduring offspring of the perished," he said. 

Ologun said that the first and second charged' were relations of the expired, while the third and fourth denounced were longtime inhabitants on the property. 

He said that the third and fourth blamed had enlisted for change for the name to 'Bakare', which was not their genuine names, professing to be the offspring of the expired. 

The offenses repudiated Sections76 (1) [c], 168 (1) [d], 271 (1), 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. They, be that as it may, argued not blameworthy to the charges. 

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Peter Ojo, conceded the blamed safeguard in the aggregate for N500,000 each with two sureties each in like total.
