Two Charged Over Coventry Brothers 'Hit-And-Run' Deaths

A man and woman have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a suspected hit-and-run which killed two young brothers in Coventry.....

Corey and Casper Platt-May - aged six and two - were heading to a park when they were hit by a car on Thursday.

Robert Brown, 53, and Gwendoline Harrison, 41, are due to appear before Coventry Magistrates Court later.

Mr Brown is also charged with driving while disqualified and without a licence or insurance.

Ms Harrison also faces a common assault allegation.

Corey and Casper were among a group of up to nine children being helped across Macdonald Road by several adults at about 14:00 GMT on a family trip to a nearby park.

They were taken to hospital with severe injuries, but Casper could not be revived and died a short time later.
Corey was rushed into surgery, but later died.

The boys' grandfather Kim May said: "They were just very happy, jolly, lovely boys and their lives have been taken away so young. It's unbelievable."

Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from West Midlands Police, thanked the public for their help and said officers are continuing to support the family at this "devastating time".

Coventry City Football Club said their players would wear black armbands during Saturday's match against Mansfield Town in memory of the boys.

Family and friends have set up a number of fundraising pages to help the grieving parents cover the funeral costs.
