A house party isn’t a house party without a dash of chaos, and this one duly provided. We trooped into a presentation space made up like a rather fabulous apartment; bamboo and velvet furniture on a deep-pile cream carpet, bed and bath in an open alcove upstairs, mid-century coffee tables scattered with bottles and glasses, and a DJ going at it in the corner....
The Osman partygoers came out in clusters and immediately scattered or started throwing shapes.

“Hey!” bellowed veteran runway photographer Mitchell Sams, “Please, stand there!” Such was the vibe that it seemed to have completely slipped the minds of the models, dancers, and other friends of Osman that they were here not just to schmooze and shimmy, but also to act as subjects as Sams documented the evening.

Slowly, Sams established order, semaphoring some fine party looks into his frame. An opening black topcoat featured puffballs of beading. A strapless black evening dress was etched with an embroidery of Osman’s recurring tree illustration. There was a cute ruffle-peplum jacquard party pantsuit, a fine gold Lurex dress, and a great leather-piped safari all-in-one. Returning model/muse/pal Tiphaine de Lussy looked totally party-ready in a coat of multicolor fur tiers in different lengths over a ruffled leather skirt and a Lurex sweater. The more models came out, the more valiant Sams strained his vocal chords trying to get them in the frame. As the music picked up, they seemed less and less inclined to oblige. Osman said afterward, “I wanted to show that my clothes are easy to wear and fun—clothes to dance in.” Mission accomplished.
