Meet The First African American To Do A Us Presidential Portrait

I bet you didn't know  Barack Obama's portrait maker is half Nigerian!
When Barack Obama became President Willey had excitedly said "I'd love, love, love to do his official presidential portrait. I'm actively campaigning,"

Wiley had earlier painted portraits of Michael Jackson, Notorious B.I.G. and other famous figures.

Surprisingly in October 2017 it was announced that Wiley had been commissioned to produce a portrait of former U.S. president Barack Obama for the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery
Wiley did not grow up with his father, and at the age of 20 traveled to Nigeria to explore his roots and meet him.
Wiley identifies as gay.
